QUESTION:Write about a small problem that was made worse when u tried to solve it .
Two of my best friends , John and George , were always at loggerheads[相争] . It was not surprising when i heard them arguing fiercely again after school . Usually , i would ignore them until they cooled down . Then , i would speak to them individually . However , that day , i decided to intervene[介入] .
I walked towards them and separated them . At that time , it seemed a logical[必然] thing to do . Turning to john , i ask him what happened . Instead of telling me anything , he became defensive[有戒心] and insisted that he was no the one who had started the quarrel . Before i could say anything in retaliation[复仇] , George tried to defend me . John turned back to George and started call him names . I was appalled[惊骇] . John was usually quite mild[温顺]manners person and he seldom called people names .
John channeled[转换] his anger at me . He was furious with me for trying to stop him . He kicked my leg so hard that i stumbled backwards and fell . I scratched[划破] my palms on the floor and blood trickled out slowly from the small cuts . Seeing my bruises , George was furious and ran towards John . He pushed him onto the ground and punched him hard on the cheek . Startled[使惊吓] , John hurriedly picked himself up and rushed at George . Before long , my two friends were rolling about on the ground . They grabbed at each other's hair and tried to kick at each other's stomach .
Dumbfounded[使惊呆] , i backed away . I looked around desperately[疯狂的] for help when one of the school security guards ran up . Yelling at John and George , he pulled them apart . He glared at them so sternly that both the boys did not dare touch each other . He threatened to send them to the discipline master , but both of them begged him not to . They agreed to stop fighting .
Seeing that they had cooled down considerable , i walked towards them , intending to find out what had happened . However , both of them glared at me . They accused me of exacerbate[恶化] the problem . George revealed that John and he could not agree on who the best international tennis player was . There was no malice in their quarrel . I tried to explain that i was only trying to help , but they refused to listen to me . Unable to persuade them , i walked off .
"You should live and let live [互相宽容] , " my mother told me when i related the incident to her . " Their argument did not concern you , so you should not interfere[干涉] . " I knew that she was right , but i was annoyed with the way they had treated me .
